i. Asad has downloaded Audacity on to his computer to listen to music. Unfortunately, he is unaware of the file formats that are supported by this software programme. List the different formats that can be played on Audacity and give their properties. Do you think it is important for there to be restrictions on how this software can be used? Why is it important for 'free, open source' software to be available to use? Do you think it is actually free?
Answer: The different formats that can be played on Audacity and their properties are:
WAV:
1. It is used for raw data.
2. It is used for uncompressed data.
3. It is compatible with the following:
    * Windows
    * Mac OS
    * Linux OS
4. It's size is large, so usually we cannot share easily over internet.
AIFF:
1. It is compatible with the following:
    * Windows
    * Mac OS
    * Linux OS
2. It has better sound quality compare to WAV.
MP3:
1. The format is developed by moving pictures.
2. It is good quality of sound compare to WAV and AIFF.
3. It is most popular because the files can easily compress and because of this property the file size becomes small and can easily transfer.

* I think the importance depends on the situation. Sometimes it is important for there to be restrictions and sometimes not.

* It is important for 'free, open source' software to be available to use because of the following reasons:
1. Large number of people have the access of this software.
2. It becomes so cheap and it's help is easily available with different suggestions.
3. It is much compatible with other softwares.

* No, nothing is free. If something is shown free, it's because they are targeting to register large number of users world wide on this platform and for this they keep the basic facilities free of cost because the software is on developing stage. When we register with paid version then we are able to use all it's properties we want.
