He began to weep because he was too poor to buy a new one. A water fairy appeared from the river with a golden axe. She offered him the axe. The woodcutter refused to take it. He said, "It is not mine," The water fairy dived into the water and brought a silver axe. The woodcutter again refused to take it. He said, "It is not mine." The water fairy dived into the river for the third time. This time she brought an iron axe. The wood cutter accepted it very gladly. The water fairy was very pleased with his honesty and gave him the other two axes as a reward.

Moral: Honesty is the best policy.
