Introduction to Photoshop CS3

NEW WORDS
Students should extract new words by themselves from chapter No. 1 and write them on neat copies as vocabulary words. There is no need to memorize these words but students should be able to read and understand these words as I explained and discussed in class.

NEW TERMS AND ABBREVIATIONS
Students should learn these terms and abbreviation. It will be the part of exam.
1.    Resolution:
       It is defined as how many pixels in one inch. It tells the quality.
2.    Crop:
       It is the feature in which we can remove the unwanted portion of the image.
3.    Lasso tools:
       It is the feature in which we can make free-hand selection in an image.
4.    Marquee tools:
       It is the feature in which we have to select the portion of image in any shape like rectangle, circle, elliptical etc.
5.    Colour mode:
       In an image there are number of colours and we can also set them using colour mode.
6.    Transforming Objects:
       Applying some operations that can change the appearance of object like by applying rotate property, by scaling etc.
7.    Gradient:
       Different shades or adding shades of one colour.

i. Alizeh is working on a picture of her pet dog and wants to show the image in different perspectives. Explain the different ways in which an image can be transformed in Photoshop. What are the potential benefits of doing this?
Answer: Following are the different ways with which the image can be transformed:
1.   Skewing
2.   Flipping horizontally
3.   Flipping vertically
4.   Scaling
5.   Rotating
6.   Distorting
The potential benefits of doing this is to allow the user to apply variety of features according to the desire to make the pictures more attractive.

j. Bilal has been given the following pictures and has to make the required changes in them. How would he do this? Is it an easy task? Justify your response.
*   a picture of playground where he needs to focus on the two children in the foreground
*   an image where he needs to blend two background colours together
*   A picture where he needs to turn the people in the picture to the opposite side
Answer: Yes, these all three tasks are easy, because all the tools are available in the Photoshop CS3.
*   Using a crop tool, Bilal can remove the unwanted area from the picture and focus on the required area of the picture.
*   Using a gradient tool, Bilal can blend two background colours together.
*   Using the transform tool, Bilal can turn the desired part of the picture to the opposite side.

k. Open the picture of your favourite super heroin Photoshop. Make the following changes to it and note down the steps you take for each of them. Why do you think is it important to follow the steps in order?
*   Change the background/ foreground colour of the picture.
*   Crop away any details you do not like.
*   Copy the image within the same file.
*   Add a gradient and transform the picture.
