Chapter No. 10Images and Framesets in Dreamweaver CS3
NEW WORDS
Students should extract new words by themselves from chapter No. 1 and write them on neat copies as vocabulary words. There is no need to memorize these words but students should be able to read and understand these words as I explained and discussed in class.
NEW TERMS AND ABBREVIATIONS
Students should learn these terms and abbreviation. It will be the part of exam.
1. Frameset:
Frames are the different divisions of a web page. Each frame displays an HTML document independently.
2. Rollover image:
Rollover image consists of two different images:
1. Primary image
2. Secondary image
So, an image changes to another image when the mouse moves over it in a browser.
3. Hotspots:
Hotspots are the hyperlinks. Image map divides into regions and these regions are clickable. These clickable regions are called hotspots.
4. Caption:
It is the title or reference text for the table or any image.
5. Debugging:
Finding and removing errors is called debugging.
6. GIF:
GIF stands for Graphic Interchange Format.
7. JPEG:
JPEG stands for Joint Photographic Experts Group.
8. PNG:
PNG stands for Portable Network Group.

Descriptive Type Questions
Q No. 1: Answer the following.
a. What are the three formats of the image supported by web browsers?
Answer: Following are the three formats of the image supported by web browser:
1. Graphic Interchange Format (GIF).
2. Joint Photographic Experts Group (JPEG).
3. Portable Network Group (PNG).
b. What are the two ways of inserting a Rollover image?
Answer: Lab work (will be discuss in Computer lab. Students do not have to do this question on neat copies).
c. What are the three shapes that can be used to define the image map area?
Answer: Following are the three shapes that can be used to define the image map area:
1. Polygon
2. Circle
3. Rectangle
d. How will you add an Excel file to a web page?
Answer: Lab work (will be discuss in Computer lab. Students do not have to do this question on neat copies).
e. What is the advantage of adding a frameset to a web page?
Answer: Adding frameset to a web page facilitates for navigation. In a set of frames, one frame contains navigation bar and other is used to display content pages.
* Every frame has it's own scroll bar, so a viewer can easily use it for each frame independently.
* There is no need to reload navigation related graphics for each page.
f. Tariq has been asked to compare the following framesets in Dreamweaver by drawing each of them on a chart and writing an explanation of what they do in terms of web pages:
* Fixed bottom, nested right
* Fixed left, nested bottom
* Fixed right, nested top
Help Tariq out by suggesting how he could go about completing the task.
Answer: Lab work (will be discuss in Computer lab. Students do not have to do this question on neat copies).
g. Analyse the usefulness of tables in making webpages. Give examples to support your answer.
Answer: Tables are very useful in making webpages because:
1. We can easily maintain and structure the data.
2. We can easily manage to create a web page.
3. It's guide is very user friendly and the space of working is already defined.
h. Refer back to Question 3 in the previous chapter. Improve your webpage, 'This is ME!' by using framesets, image placeholders, rollover images, and tables.
Answer: Lab work (will be discuss in Computer lab. Students do not have to do this question on neat copies).
Additional Questions
Q: What is an image? How is it different from a digital image?
Answer: When something is visually represented then it is called an image.
But, when we use binary representation of visual data then it is called digital image.
Q: What is imaging? How is the digital image formed?
Answer: When the object or anything of 3D world is mapped on a 2D digital plane then it is called imaging.
To capture an image from a camera is the physical process. Here, sunlight is the source of energy. In digital image formation we use a sensor array for the acquisition of the image. When sunlight falls on the object, some rays reflect back and because of this the object has been sensed. All the sensed data will help to generate a continuous voltage signal.
After this process we convert it into digital form by sampling and quantization. The resultant matrix of sampling and quantization form digital image.
